School Counselor

Welcome!

Welcome to Peachtree City Elementary School! We hope you and your child are having a great start to the school year. You are a member of our school family and we want you and your child to have the best experience ever!

My name is Ruth Childers and I am your school counselor. This is my seventeenth year at Peachtree City Elementary School and I am proud to work at a school made up of awesome children and loving and professional educators.

My Background
I earned my Early Childhood Education degree at Georgia State University and was a classroom teacher for eight years. During that time I attended the University of West Georgia and earned my master’s degree in School Counseling. Since joining PCES in 1995 I returned to the University of West Georgia and obtained my specialist degree in School Counseling. I enjoy my work and am honored to be a part of your child’s educational journey.

My Responsibilities

Classroom Guidance Lessons – I visit homeroom classes each month and teach our students lessons intended to improve their learning behaviors, social skills, self-concepts, and overall life skills. My lessons are intended to help your child develop responsible and socially appropriate actions.

Small Group Guidance Lessons and/or Groups – I offer instructional classes and/or support for our students who may benefit from extra assistance in various skills.

Individual Sessions – I enjoy meeting with individuals and learning more about their lives and their needs. I am available to meet with individuals and offer assistance as they work toward their educational, social, and/or personal goals.

Consultation – It is my pleasure to assist and support our parents as they navigate the challenges of parenting.
